Learn the steps to upload your custom indicators in TradingView.

Not financial advice

This is general, educational information — not investment, trading, tax, or financial advice, and not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Any figures come from our own hypothetical, out-of-sample backtests (standard settings, realistic costs); past results do not guarantee future returns. Trading involves risk of loss. Verify everything yourself and consult a licensed professional before acting. See the methodology and full disclaimer.

Understanding TradingView Indicators

TradingView allows users to create and upload custom indicators using Pine Script, its proprietary scripting language. This enables traders to develop unique tools tailored to their trading strategies.

Steps to Upload an Indicator

1. **Open TradingView**: Log into your TradingView account or create one if you haven't already.

2. **Access the Pine Script Editor**: Click on the 'Pine Editor' tab located at the bottom of the TradingView interface.

3. **Write Your Script**: In the Pine Editor, you can write your custom indicator script using Pine Script. If you have an existing script, you can paste it here.

4. **Save Your Script**: After writing or pasting your script, click on the 'Save' button. You will be prompted to name your script.

5. **Add to Chart**: Once saved, click on the 'Add to Chart' button to apply your indicator to the current chart. If there are no errors in your script, it will be displayed on the chart.

6. **Publish Your Script** (Optional): If you want to share your indicator with the TradingView community, you can publish it by clicking on the 'Publish Script' button. Follow the prompts to provide a description and set visibility options.

What to Keep in Mind

Ensure that your Pine Script is free of errors before adding it to the chart. TradingView provides error messages if there are issues with your script. Additionally, familiarize yourself with Pine Script documentation to utilize its full capabilities effectively.
