How to Install Indicators in TradingView
A step-by-step guide to installing indicators in TradingView for enhanced trading analysis.
This is general, educational information — not investment, trading, tax, or financial advice, and not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Any figures come from our own hypothetical, out-of-sample backtests (standard settings, realistic costs); past results do not guarantee future returns. Trading involves risk of loss. Verify everything yourself and consult a licensed professional before acting. See the methodology and full disclaimer.
Accessing TradingView
To begin, open your web browser and navigate to the TradingView website. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one by signing up for free.
Finding Indicators
Once logged in, locate the 'Indicators' button at the top of the TradingView interface. Click on it to open the indicators menu. You can browse through various categories of indicators or use the search bar to find specific ones.
Installing an Indicator
When you find the desired indicator, click on it to add it to your chart. The indicator will appear on your chart immediately. You can adjust its settings by clicking on the gear icon next to the indicator's name in the chart legend.
Custom Indicators
If you want to install a custom indicator (like those based on SMC/ICT strategies), you may need to access the Pine Script editor. Click on 'Pine Editor' at the bottom of the TradingView interface, paste the script for the custom indicator, and then click 'Add to Chart'. Make sure to save your script for future use.
Adjusting Indicator Settings
After adding an indicator, you can customize its appearance and parameters. Right-click on the indicator line on your chart or access the settings through the chart legend to modify its settings according to your preferences.
Saving Your Setup
Once you have added and customized your indicators, you can save your chart layout by clicking on the 'Save' icon. This ensures that your indicators and settings are preserved for future sessions.
